Nurturing Childcare with a Holistic Approach

At Heart’s Home Daycare, we create a calm, loving, and engaging space where children feel safe, valued, and at home. Our approach is influenced from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and nature-based learning, allowing children to explore, play, and learn in ways that feel natural to them. Our large outdoor space gives children the freedom to be curious, get messy, and learn through real-life experiences. We honour each child’s unique way of expressing themselves and support many ways of thinking, discovering, and understanding the world around them.

UNDER RENOVATIONS
Heart’s Home Daycare is located in Springbrook, nestled on an acre of quiet, open space. It’s a place where children can slow down, explore, and just be kids.
At Heart’s Home, we’ve created a warm, home-like environment where children feel safe, loved, and truly known. We take the time to build real connections with each child and support them as they grow in their own unique way.
We spend a lot of time both indoors and outside, because we believe learning doesn’t just happen at a table, it happens in the mud, in the fresh air, and in everyday moments. Our spaces are set up to invite curiosity, creativity, and a sense of wonder.
This is a place where children can feel comfortable, confident, and free to explore the world around them, with gentle guidance as they grow and discover.

Our Mission at Heart’s Home is to create a warm, home-like space where children feel safe, valued, and free to be themselves. We take the time to know each child and support their growth in ways that make sense for them.
We see our environment as an important part of learning. Both our indoor and outdoor spaces are designed to spark curiosity, encourage creativity, and invite children to explore and connect with nature.
Here, children are encouraged to follow their own interests, ask questions, and discover new things. We focus on helping them build confidence, stay curious, and develop a joy for learning at their own pace.

Our programs include infant care 12-18 months, toddler care 1.5 &2 yrs, 3 year old room, and Preschool room 4+

At Heart's Home, messy play is a meaningful and valued part of children’s learning. Whether it’s mud, water, sand, paint, or natural materials, these experiences support creativity, exploration, and sensory development. It’s all part of how children learn best; through hands-on, real experiences.
Because of this, children will get dirty, and that’s okay! We encourage families to dress their child in comfortable clothing that can get messy.
We also ask that each child comes with a “muddy buddy” (or full-body splash suit) year-round. These are great for layering over regular clothes, including winter gear like snowsuits, and help keep children warm and dry while still allowing them to fully participate in outdoor play.
We go outside twice a day in most weather conditions, so having the right clothing makes a big difference in your child’s comfort and ability to enjoy their time outdoors.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning through play!
At our centre, we value outdoor play as an important part of each child’s day. Being outside regularly helps children build resilience, become more comfortable in different environments, and learn to take appropriate risks in a safe and supported way.
Outdoor experiences support all areas of development, including physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth. We often see that children are calmer, more regulated, and better able to manage challenges after spending time outside.
The outdoor environment also encourages curiosity and inquiry. Children use their imagination, explore freely, and engage in real-life learning experiences that can’t be replicated indoors.
We go outside every day and support children in dressing for the weather. This includes a wide range of temperatures, from -30°C to +30°C. On colder or extreme days, we may shorten our time outside, but we still believe it is important for children to experience the outdoors regularly.
There will be a $100 non refundable registration fee.
Yes we are a Licensed daycare
I am the owner and founder of Hearts Home Daycare, which reflects the best practices I’ve learned throughout my extensive 25 years in the childcare field. My experience includes running and operating my own private preschool, as well as operating a dayhome under the name Hearts Home Dayhome. In addition, I’ve worked in public settings, serving as an Educational Assistant (EA) in a Pre-K classroom, a playschool teacher in Spruce View, and, most recently, as a Director of a licensed daycare for the past two years in Red Deer.
As a Director, my focus is on empowering my staff and always leading by example. I strongly believe in remembering my own experience as an educator in the classroom and understanding what is needed to help both staff and children succeed. This background gives me the ability to transform my vision into reality within my own daycare. As both the owner and director, I am able to fully shape my daycare, using the best elements from all of my experiences to create a nurturing and successful environment for children.
In a Reggio Emilia-inspired environment, children are encouraged to explore, express themselves, and collaborate with others through a variety of engaging activities. The curriculum is flexible, adapting to the unique interests and needs of each child. Educators take the time to observe and listen closely, gaining insight into the children's thoughts and building on their natural curiosity. Children participate in hands-on experiences, often using natural materials, and are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, and express their ideas creatively through art, play, and meaningful dialogue.
The environment is intentionally designed to be both stimulating and inviting, with a focus on creating an aesthetically pleasing space that fosters exploration and learning. The layout of the room, the selection of materials, and the presentation of children’s work all contribute to the learning process, helping to inspire curiosity and creativity
We are located on 2 acres of land, where we focus on using the natural world as the primary environment for learning and development. We emphasize the importance of outdoor play, environmental stewardship, and hands-on learning experiences that connect children with the world around them. Children engage in activities such as gardening, exploring forests, and learning about plants, insects, and weather, all with the goal of fostering a deep connection to the environment.
Outdoor activities like climbing, running, balancing, and jumping help children develop motor skills and build physical strength. Using natural materials like rocks, sticks, leaves, and more, they are encouraged to explore their creativity and imagination in an open, unstructured setting.
Our outdoor environment also promotes collaborative play, problem-solving, and communication. Children learn to work together, resolve conflicts, and build relationships in a supportive atmosphere. Spending time outdoors has proven benefits for children’s physical and mental health, including improved focus, reduced stress, and enhanced overall well-being
